From April 13 to 15, Professor Yonggang Huang of Northwestern University, Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fellow of three US national academies and Fellow of the Royal Society, visited the School of Aerospace Engineering at Xi’an Jiaotong University.
Professor Huang held talks with Shen Shengping, Dean of the School of Aerospace Engineering, at the Innovation Harbour. On behalf of the school, Shen Shengping warmly welcomed Professor Huang’s second visit and briefly updated him on the school and mechanics discipline progress. They discussed cutting-edge research areas, disciplinary development prospects and young scholar training. Professor Huang also met young faculty and PhD students from the School of Aerospace Engineering and the School of Materials. He commented on their academic reports, held one-on-one guidance, encouraged bold exploration and expressed high expectations for their research.

This event is part of the school’s academic series for the 130th anniversary of Xi’an Jiaotong University. It broadened bilateral cooperation and laid a solid foundation for boosting the discipline’s global standing and high-level international collaboration. The School of Aerospace Engineering will keep building top-tier international academic platforms to gather leading scholars and resources, advance interdisciplinary innovation of mechanics and aerospace studies, and support the construction of a strong country in education, science, technology and talent.
