On April 14, Professor Roberto Verzicco, President of the European Mechanics Society (EUROMECH) and Fellow of the American Physical Society, visited the School of Aerospace Engineering and the State Key Laboratory for Strength and Vibration of Mechanical Structures at Xi'an Jiaotong University. Dean Shen Shengping attended the event, and Professor Zhang Jie presided over the academic program. In the morning, Professor Verzicco delivered a lecture entitled "Thermal Regelation Dynamics Around Spherical Particles," systematically elucidating the microscopic mechanism by which particles traverse an ice matrix under a temperature gradient, governed by the premelted liquid film at the ice–solid interface. His team's numerical model not only yielded results highly consistent with theoretical analyses but also revealed novel dynamics where classical theories fail.

Following the lecture, Professor Verzicco listened to research reports from young faculty and doctoral students of the Institute of Fluid Mechanics, engaging in in-depth discussions and expressing keen interest in their experimental and numerical work. At noon, he toured the State Key Laboratory, where Dean Shen introduced the School's development and recent achievements. Both sides exchanged views on cutting-edge issues in mechanics and young faculty cultivation.

The visit strengthened ties with international mechanics organizations and laid a foundation for advancing high-level global collaboration.
