Xi’an Jiaotong University recently announced the 2024–2025 “Outstanding Student Model” selection results, with Zhang Jiaming from Class 2201 of the School of Aerospace Engineering winning this highest undergraduate honor—an award limited to only ten students annually. Since enrollment, Zhang has adhered to the spirit of “diligent study and resolute aspiration,” focusing on mechanics and aerospace. He ranked first in his major for three consecutive years, achieved ten perfect-course scores and over fifty courses above 90, and has been honored with the National Scholarship, the university’s First-Class Scholarship, and multiple academic awards.

Zhang excelled in disciplinary competitions, securing the Grand Prize in both individual and team events of the International Engineering Mechanics Contest, a silver medal in the International Olympiad of Theoretical Mechanics, and two consecutive provincial first prizes in the National College Mathematics Competition. In interdisciplinary research, he integrated mechanical equations into neural networks and published a paper in a CAS Zone II journal. Additionally, as a member of the university rowing team, he won double gold medals at the Shenyang Rowing Open and claimed Xi’an Jiaotong University’s first-ever gold medal at the Shanghai Rowing Open by outperforming professional athletes, embodying all-round development.

This achievement marks a significant educational milestone for the School of Aerospace Engineering at the junction of the 14th and 15th Five-Year Plans. Guided by the “Five First-Class Goals” development vision, the School prioritizes talent cultivation through integrated Party building and dual-college coordination. It has implemented initiatives such as the “Aerospace Learning Support Program,” “Aerospace Mind & Well-Being Program,” and “Aerospace Future Path Program” to strengthen full-cycle student development, yielding remarkable results.
