The 2025 China University Aerocraft Design Competition (CUADC) national finals recently concluded at Deqing Moganshan General Airport in Zhejiang. With the theme "Reaching for the Skies with Innovation and Competing in Aerospace", the competition is jointly initiated and hosted by the Chinese Aeronautical Society, Zhejiang University, Beihang University and other institutions, and is the only domestic college student aerospace science and technology innovation competition integrating aircraft design, production, flight and control. Attracting nearly 4,000 teachers and students from 150 universities nationwide, the Xi'an Jiaotong University Aeromodelling Team achieved remarkable results: one championship, one third place in the multi-rotor UAV mission flight category, one second place in the solar-powered aircraft mission flight category, as well as one grand prize, four first prizes, seven second prizes and one third prize in total, setting a new institutional record.
The outstanding achievements are attributed to the collaborative support of multiple school departments and the meticulous efforts of team members. During the preparation period, the Communist Youth League Committee and the School of Aerospace Engineering formed a management and guidance committee with the support of the research institute, academic affairs office, student affairs office and other departments. The School of Aerospace Engineering established a teacher expert committee to optimize innovative design, technical implementation and other key links. Some teachers and students participated in the "Climbing Program" and entered enterprises like Aerospace Science and Technology Group No. 6 for practical experience, while team members utilized spare time to overcome technical difficulties and ensure the quality of their works.
Xi'an Jiaotong University was selected as one of the first batch of pilot units for the "Science and Technology Innovation Training Programs" by the China Association for Science and Technology for teenagers in 2025, and has been strengthening innovation and entrepreneurship education. Founded in 2002, the university's Aeronautical Model Association (under the joint guidance of the Communist Youth League Committee and the School of Aerospace Engineering) has rich experience in related fields and has won many honors such as the US SAE International Aviation Design Competition championship and "Xiaoping Technology Innovation Team". Looking forward, the association will summarize competition experience, deepen exploration in power system optimization, flight control accuracy improvement and other technical directions, and continue to cultivate top innovative talents for the aerospace field, contributing to the school's "Double First-Class" construction and the cause of building a strong aerospace nation.
