The 2025 freshmen (undergraduate & graduate) opening ceremony of the School of Aerospace Engineering was held on the afternoon of September 6, 2025, at 2W-201 Lecture Hall of China Western Science and Technology Innovation Port. Over 550 freshmen attended, along with Dean Shen Shengping, Party Secretary Zhang Aiping, Student Affairs Office Deputy Director & Wenzhi Academy Director Wang Qi, faculty, supervisors and counselors. It was hosted by School Vice Chairman Li Yujing.

Opening with the national anthem, Shen Shengping welcomed freshmen, reviewed the school‘s history and put forward three hopes: perseverance (upholding the "Westward Relocation Spirit"), truth-seeking (combining basic research and engineering) and vitality (learning from role models).Assistant to Dean Yu Wenshan introduced undergraduate education. Vice Dean Zhang Hu graduate training (prospects, programs, scholarships and employment), and Director Wang Qi intruduced Wenzhi College’s features. Shen Shengping awarded supervisor appointments; Zhang Aiping honored Academic Committee cadres. Teacher Liang Yong shared advice, while freshmen representative Zhou Zhirui (graduate) and Wei Zihan (undergraduate) urged a shift from passive learners to active problem-solvers.

Chairman of School of Aerospace Engineering Zhang Aiping concluded, stressing tech innovation’s importance for national development and encouraging freshmen to take on independent tech innovation missions. He used three keywords for students: "awaken" (pursue science, social responsibility), "ignite" (link personal goals to national needs), and "support" (school backing). The ceremony ended with the university song, with hopes that the freshmen will focus on study and exploration at the school.
