    讲座题目:Mechanics of Cell Interactions with Low-Dimensional Nanomaterials

    讲座摘要:

    Low-dimensional nanomaterials, including various types of nanoparticles, nanowires, nanofibers, nanotubes, and atomically thin plates and sheets have emerged as candidates as building blocks for the next generation electronics, microchips, composites, barrier coatings, biosensors, drug delivery, and energy harvesting and conversion systems. There is now an urgent societal need to understand the biological interactions and environmental impact of nanomaterials which are being produced and released into the environment by nearly a million tons per year. This talk aims to discuss mechanics as an enabling tool in this emerging field of study. The discussions will touch on some of the recent experimental, modelling and simulation studies on the mechanisms of cell uptake of low-dimensional nanomaterials and their effects on intracellular vesicles. 

    讲座人:高华健教授

    讲座人简介:

    高华健,美国工程院院士,中国科学院外籍院士,国际力学界著名科学家。1982年毕业于西安交通大学工程力学系,1988年获哈佛大学工程科学博士学位。现任美国布朗大学终身教授,曾任斯坦福大学教授、德国Max-Planck金属材料研究所所长。担任固体力学领域顶级期刊《Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids》主编、及多个国际著名期刊杂志的编委等,工程科学学会(SES)主席。1999年,ASME将首届应用力学青年学者特殊成就奖授予了高华健博士(每年只有1人)。他还获得德国洪堡奖学金,美国科学基金会青年学者奖等奖励,荣获第二届(2012) Rodney Hill 奖,是首位获得此项殊荣的华人学者。高华健院士在薄膜力学、纳米力学、断裂力学、纳米生物力学、微尺度塑性理论等固体力学的多个方面,取得了富有创新性和具有国际重要影响的成果。
